Captain's Lookout is located on 110 acres, including unspoiled temperate forest on top of Berry Mountain. It boasts picturesque landscapes, and magnificent elevated ocean views overlooking Coolangatta, Jervis Bay and Shoalhaven Heads.

Set up high on the mountain ridge, Captain's Lookout experiences different climates throughout of the year, and on any given day as the weather fronts roll in. Set in a clearing amongst the temperate forest, you will share the peace and quiet with abundant native wildlife including an echidna, brown wallabies, possums, wombats and a vast array of native birdlife.

At Captain's Lookout, you will instantly feel relaxed as you take a seat on the landscaped viewing deck, perched on the edge of the mountain with large fire pit as its centrepiece. Enjoy the cinema of natural weather events where you can watch the fog majestically rolling in over the mountains, amazing lightning storms over the ocean or on a clear day, you will see the horizon stretching for miles and at night you will feel like you can pluck a star from the sky. Enjoy the covered alfresco area with BBQ in summer and the large slow combustion wood fire which pumps out the heat in winter and provides a cosy ambiance inside. This is the perfect getaway in any season.

Captain's Lookout can comfortably accommodate 7. It's a holiday house suitable for families or couples wanting to rejuvenate from their hustle and bustle lifestyle. This spacious rustic house has 3 good-sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one at either end of the house. Prepare a meal in the well-equipped kitchen to enjoy by the cosy wood fire, or light up the BBQ and take in those breathtaking views from the covered outdoor entertaining area.

The house is dotted with nautical curiosities, see if you can find the cat o' nine tails, the mast light, the anchor chain link bookends, the ship's compass and the tug boat rope! With books, games, WiFi, TV and DVD, there is plenty to do at the property and no need to leave. There are beautiful walks and waterfalls on the property itself, pack a picnic and make an appointment to dine with the local birdlife. For those wanting to explore further, the Cambewarra Lookout is only 8 km away, Kangaroo Valley is a scenic 13 km mountain drive away and Seven Mile Beach a downhill 16km in the opposite direction. Berry Village is just an 8 km drive and provides an array of restaurants, cafes, sweets, treats and boutique shopping.

Wi-fi is offered as a complimentary extra. As there is no charge issues will be dealt with ASAP but cannot be guaranteed.

To ensure the comfort of our guests and the neighbours, we do not accept bookings for "Schoolies" breaks/under 21yrs groups and under no circumstances do we allow weddings or parties of any sort.

Notes
Payment for the booking warrants you and all guests staying will abide by the Code of Conduct for Short Term Rental Accommodation which can be viewed under the Guest Information tab on our website or a link which will be sent to you in your booking confirmation email.

This property is a holiday rental, it is not a principal place of residence and there are no shared rooms. Enjoy your time in comfort and privacy.

Terms and conditions apply for this property and payment warrants your agreement and that of all other guests staying at the property with you.

The guest limits apply at all times during the booking. Any extra guests (this includes day visitors) above those that have been booked and paid for must be approved in writing prior to the stay. Only the guests staying at the property are permitted to be present. If you wish to have visitors in addition to booked guests, you must advise us in writing prior to your stay and ensure you receive written permission. This is not possible at all properties.

NSW Planning has passed laws that affect guests. The Code of Conduct for holiday renting can be found on our website under the Guest Information tab. In Section 2.5.2 of the STR Code of Conduct, guests have an obligation to ensure the peace and comfort of neighbours and other occupants of the premises (if strata) near holiday rental properties. This means guests have to be very mindful of noise made in or outside the property that can disrupt neighbours at any time of the day.

If you or any other guest receives a warning regarding excess noise or excess guests, you may be asked to leave the property immediately with no refund of monies. Noise audible outside the property is prohibited.

This property is approved for accommodation only. No mattresses, tents, caravans or more cars than the property accommodates are allowed. Under no circumstances are the following activities permitted at any of our properties: motorbikes, dirt bikes, quad bikes, use of firearms or air rifles, fireworks.

Our standard check-in time is 4 pm and check out time is 10 am. We can offer you a complimentary early check-in or late check out time as a gesture of goodwill where booking and housekeeping schedules allow. Please call our team to request this prior to your arrival. Please note that due to demand and housekeeping pressures, no early check ins or late check outs will be granted during the months of December and January. The safest way to secure a later check out or early check in is to book the property for an extra night, please contact us to see if we can offer a special rate for this extra night. Please note that Sunday late check outs must be requested and approved prior to 5 pm on the Friday evening of that week.

Out of peak season stays of a week or more may qualify for a discount, please send us a message.

For your added security, this property is managed by a Licensed Real Estate Agent. We will never request payments be made to an overseas bank account and your money is held safely in our Trust Account until after your departure.

We had a fantastic trip to Berry from Sydney this weekend staying here with our whole family. We were celebrating a significant birthday with some dinners and wine tastings booked in the heart of town, so this property was perfect in terms of location. The layout of the house was interesting and spacious which we loved. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook and make cocktails. There was a heater and fireplace indoors so we were very warm. We spent most of our time sitting around the fire pit outside though, which had a stunning view and an ideal spot for sitting with everyone, spending some quality time together. We were very excited to spot some wombats and wallabies during our stay, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommend staying here if you are after a scenic and memorable trip!

Stunning view! Lovely to watch the changing colours of the Shoalhaven. We had a couple of visits from some wallabies eating from the apple trees, which was really special. House is comfortable with old-school charm. We thought it was a little expensive but would stay again.

Captain's Lookout boasts amazing views of the coast and a beautiful setting amidst the forest. We even saw wombats! House is comfortable, spacious and well equipped but kitchen could do with an update. Overall, location is gorgeous and we were sorry not to be able to use the fire pit (due to wet weather)

We LOVED staying at captains lookout. The space was amazing - loved all the rustic touches. The fires inside and out were perfect on a winter weekend and the view was stunning - each time you looked out, it was different as the light changed through the day and we were treated to full rainbows! Even on a very windy weekend, we were snug and warm. Would definitely recommend this place!

We loved our stay here. The house was nice and warm, we loved the view from the house and absolutely enjoyed the campfire. Would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to just relax and enjoy a mountain retreat.

We enjoyed our stay here. Our doggo enjoyed the abundance of grass and fresh air too! As many other reviews have noted, this place has lots of quirks of an older style home particularly the kitchen and one of the bathrooms. Bore water is in use here too. They provide plenty of drinking water in containers. The fireplace and fire pit is what makes this a great place for a getaway for a group of friends. On your way in, you will need to open two gates to get through.
