Description

Watts Hill is set on gently undulating land just 6km from the quaint Highlands village of Robertson. This home enjoys awe-inspiring views to the magnificent sandstone escarpments of the Budderoo National Park overlooking Upper Kangaroo Valley. Enjoy a wine from the comfort of your terrace, watch wallabies, native birds and wombats, with no neighbours in sight. Llamas and contented cows roam in neighbouring fields.

The home has two pavilions atop a grassy knoll. Mostly open plan, it is possible to open the whole house to light and cross current breezes with clever timber shutters for the upstairs gallery bedrooms these can be closed off for privacy or opened to offer light, breeze and views. (Note: upper level horizontal railings may present a climbing hazard to children enabling them to climb over the rails and fall to the floor below! For this reason this house is best suited to guests with children under 6 months or over 10 years). Windows are a combination of high grade safety glass and double-glazed glass. Soft earthy tones prevail with natural timber windows and the render colour matching the changing hues of the escarpment sandstone. All bedrooms boast stunning views, quality linen and comfortable beds.

The kitchen is a warm galley space with a rich British Racing Green Aga with LPG fired range, and a two-burner ceramic hob on the counter. Please note that the only oven available is the gas-fired Aga and it can take up to 1 hr to prepare the oven temperatures for cooking. Alternatively, there is a small microwave oven, and a large outdoor gas bbq. The living room boasts a Jetmaster wood burning fireplace, cathedral ceiling and floor to ceiling windows. Sub floor heating will take the chill off in the foggy wintery morningsit is a warm and ambient space that is both intimate and spacious at the same time.

The dining space has bi-fold doors that open out to the trellised patio, the perfect summer alfresco entertaining area enjoying views over the escarpment and garden. At the other end of the kitchen, additional doors spill out to the sun drenched, protected bbq courtyard, with peekaboo escarpment views through the carport.

It is a 6km drive into town where you can choose your dining experience from bistro, pub, cafes, country kitchens or restaurants. There are regular markets, agricultural shows, a bakery and tourist spots such as the Robertson Cheese Factory. Foodies will love Lucindas Pantry and Moonacre Caf & quality local providores fruit shop, all offering exceptional farm to plate produce. Belmore Falls lookout is only 6km away, Nellies Glen waterholes are nearby, and the famous Burrawang Pub and General Store are both a delightful country drive, just 13km away.

A stunning house, beautifully designed to maximize the view. The architecture and fine details have cleverly been woven in to not only give you a view from every room but to manage the cold to make it cosy but allow for breeze in summer. At night you can look out and see the amazing night sky.
We also had two foxes poke around and kangaroos and wombats which the kids loved.
